As we enter election time it is important to reflect what this blog has revealed to us in the past months. There have been numerous questions and concerns that have been asked. Obviously the local news outlets don’t do their jobs. It is too bad the Tribune and its journalists don’t care enough about this community to challenge the candidates all; sheriff, district attorney, county commissioners and clerks, to the slightest bit of interest or scrutiny to allow our citizens to be served by the best possible person. It seems a shame that the Tribune doesn’t understand what should be a sense of responsibility, or maybe they do understand. So what is our alternative when the papers protect their own favorites and ignore their obvious duties? Citizens who are fed up will take matters into the hands in the form of blogs. What have we learned about the 2 ton, ignored elephant in the room?
Sheriff D. Brad Riley does read this blog but does not have interest to answer to the easiest of questions. Of course, no one expected him to grace this site with his presence, but why not the newspaper or his websites? He did feel the need to slightly address concerns about overpopulation in the jail. But what of all the surrounding concerns? Mr. Riley has not been held accountable to his county citizens. Born here, raised here…whatever! Shouldn’t he face the music? Is this the leadership we deserve? There is no leadership at all. Not only will he dodge press conferences designed by him but won’t so much as return a phone call.
That many of his deputies are selfish, ruthless, profane, egotistical, suspicious people that do not deserve to wear badges and guns. Now with that said, most are outstanding men and women who love this community. These are the ones who need our support and new leadership. The most vocal and sometimes profane deputies, voice concerns so extreme that it shows the frustration clear and true. Most want change and need direction. Others want the ones who think differently then them to leave, telling them they are unwanted and unwelcome in their own department. Does this not scream to us, the citizens, of the turmoil in the sheriff’s office? It is an attitude born from the top. Sheriff Riley supporters claim these vulgar employees can not be tamed by the sheriff. If he can not control this own, then how can he lead them.
The time is now to bring about change and new leadership. Sheriff Riley has had an opportunity to make an impression upon all of us; whether good or bad. Have the undecided voters taken their responsibility seriously? Have they done research and met David Graham? He is a man with outstanding credentials and more importantly than that, he is a man who is respected by ALL who know him. He represents true professionalism and leadership. He has run an outstanding campaign. Let us not miss this opportunity to read our compasses correctly. It is time to sail in the right direction.

It amazes me that two billboard were torn down by the Riley camp. That has to be a new extreme for Brad Riley. That man is insane. I feel sorry for anyone that has to work directly under him. Most of us are really hoping for a change. And as we may be facebook friends with our Sheriff Riley, and required to gain as much support for Riley as we can publicly...like campaigning for him with signs, facebook support...we are definitely not failing to mention to those very same people that would we would never vote for him....we just can't say it out loud.
ReplyDeleteDavid Graham is not only better on paper, he is a nice guy that knows what it means to uphold the law, not be above the law....think about that....
David Graham would slaughter Brad Riley in a debate, I worked under him in Charlotte for quite sometime and I cant think of a single person who would voluntarily debate him...they would have to be forced. Except majority of police/deputies are nice guys that would generally agree with what he has to say. He is taking the politics out of the Sheriff's department, what more do you need? The sleazy politician we have now, I dont think so.
ReplyDeleteCan someone logically explain to me why Riley will not debate his opponent? If he is such a good Sheriff Riley should be the one pushing for a debate. But like i said earlier, if your smart you would not debate Graham if you do not know what your talking about, because Graham does. And it is obvious who the smarter of the two is. When it is all said and done...whether its this election or when Riley finally gets caught...Riley will be the looser
Time running out? Riley has nothing but time to win this thing again. It sounds like the Graham camp is starting to get worried. Guess what, you should be! KEEP SHERIFF RILEY IN 2010!!!
ReplyDeleteNo use of logic....
ReplyDeleteHis predecessor told Riley not to debate because he has everything to lose. That says something to me.
ReplyDeleteIf the worst thing you've heard about a man is that he is not a native in this county and that he may have been passed over for sheriff in Meck, what does that tell you? He's a man of values, strength of character, strong moral and work ethic, and truly puts the best interests of the citizens and his colleagues first.
If you haven't talked to him, please do so before you cast your ballot.
That is, DAVID GRAHAM FOR SHERIFF 2010!!!
ReplyDeleteFYI...... Graham was never passed over for sheriff in Mecklenburg County. He worked for CMPD, and never ran for sheriff. He's lived in Cabarrus County for nearly 10 years. In case you're not aware you have to live in the county in which you run for sheriff. And, as someone who has lived in Cabarrus for just a couple years, I'm offended by....... Born here, raised here, Serves here. Sounds like the sheriff does not want anyone in HIS county who was not born here. There's no room for anyone else. Well, we have news for you. There's more of us than you native born. See you at the ballot box.
ReplyDeleteGo back where your from!
ReplyDeleteYou have to live in the county you run in...david graham lives in cabarrus county. btw, someone in the meck sheriff department overheard chip bailey saying graham has a real shot at this thing...and for those of you that do not know bailey and riley are best of buds....
ReplyDeleteI have voted for Riley in the past. I am a Democrat, and have heard from many people that he is good guy to hang out with at parties and cook outs. For the first time I had to ask myself, does this qualify him to run the Sheriff's Dept?
ReplyDeleteIf there is one elected position that shouldn't be political, it is the position of Sheriff. I would usually never vote for a Republican, but after doing my homework on this election, I think David Graham could be the right choice to get politics out of the sheriff's office.
The independent Tribune listed Graham as a former chief deputy in Charlotte, and listed Riley as "... is popular throughout the county, with both Republicans and Democrats."
Ask your friends and neighbors why they "like" Riley and I doubt any of the answers will have anything to do how he has done his job.
Wow who ever runs this bullshit blog is a DUMB ASS, and to the First comment, the wind tore down the signs, not anyone in Rileys campaign, you are clearly a dumb ass too. KEEP RILEY SHERIFF 2010!!!
ReplyDeleteThe wind? You realize the company that runs those billboards is great friends with the Chief of Police of Concord...the wind...possibly, but not logically. Riley is scum and Graham is close on his heels...I highly doubt either one has over 50 percent. I believe they are both around 40. If the people get out and vote riley is a goner due to the fact he is a democrat. We are sick of the democrats. And with all the new people in cabarrus county that do not even know who Riley is makes him very vulnerable this election!!!!
ReplyDeleteBusted......
ReplyDeletedont forget about how much of a waste the democrats are. Obama has put this country in an all time high of debt....and Riley has significantly contributed to the 150 million dollar over budget jail...and yes the blame can be put on him.....
How about putting the blame on the County Commissioners? Why is it always Riley's fault? Put the blame on someone else for a change!! KEEP RILEY SHERIFF 2010!!!
ReplyDeleteJay White is at fault also...and Riley likes to use him as a scapegoat...But you know damn well Riley screwed this up big time...
ReplyDeleteRILEY IN 2010!!!
ReplyDeleteIsnt it obvious what kind of man brad Riley is on this blog? His supporters come on here using the foulest of language and words..just like henchmen. That just goes to show you who Sheriff Riley surrounds himself with.
ReplyDeleteAnd yet no one has put forth any evidence against him. Just mud slinging lies that shows what moral character Graham supporters on this blog are all about. He surrounds himself with people that care for him and defend him. Show evidence, put up or shut up.
ReplyDeleteAmen on the last comment. That is all you heard from day 1 is nothing but lies and many times we have requested evidence, but look, no evidence! Just like the last 2 elections, a bunch of bullshit lies and rumors with no validity to none of them, but we should support graham and his justice for bella team? Riley is it for this county and graham can work with JFB and travel around the country speaking about it. Let's keep Brad Riley here for good, where he belongs in his county!!!

ReplyDeleteThis man is a Riley supporter caught on tape damaging campaign sign.
He may be a Riley supporter, but I am sure he acted on his own like an idiot!!! Can't connect that to Riley!
ReplyDeleteIs Riley's pecker connected to him?
ReplyDeleteThe man caught on film destroying signs is none other than Tommy Furr. Furr is a retired captain from the sheriff's department and a close, personal friend of Riley. Riley may not have told him to it, but he knows about it going on. Just like he knows that sorry excuse of an officer Enoch has been doing the same thing.
ReplyDeleteI swear Enoch...if you didn't have Riley in your back pocket, I would beat your a$$ daily. Sorry POS.
Tommy Furr, you are so strong, tearing up that mean sign like that! Chicken sh@#, sneaky boy!
ReplyDeleteTHAT VIDEO DOESNT SHOW ANYTHING AT ALL. NO PROOF THAT THE GUY IN THE PICTURE DID ANYTHING. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT ONE.
ReplyDeleteSpoken like a true law enforcement professional. Are you in investigations? Keep turning keys or absent mindedly answering alarm calls.
ReplyDeleteAll I can say about my boss, is please keep your pecker in your pants! Can I get a big AMEN??
ReplyDeleteLook more Pecker fetish. if thats the worst you got your a moron. Proof or shut stop breathing.
ReplyDeleteLOSERS!!RILEY WINS AGAIN IN 2010!!!
